Darryl, yes, there is a network setting somewhere that is a problem. But, wiping a machine that's got a 4 year old install and getting it on the same OS is a good place to start. Katie's laptop hasn't been happy for a while and needs to new install either way.

I agree but I would put XP back on them. What kills older PCs is having to run virus protection on them. The laptop is just as fast as it was the day it was purchased and Axware is not a recourse hog by any stretch. Get them patched up and then get them off the internet and virus software won't be needed. If you can get the OS reinstalled I will be glad to help with the network issues, if I can't fix that I need to find a new career field... Meet at Hooters in Trussville?

I'm not talking about the old laptops. I'm talking about Katie's Dell that we've used for the last 3 or 4 events.

The club Dells do still work ... kind of. One has lost the the touchpad and the USB ports don't work. the other works most of the time but the USB will stop responding at times, requiring a reboot. Both have horrible screen resolution, which is the main reason I'm using Katie's 17" for timing. The newer version of AxWare have added columns and features that take up a little more screen space making it more difficult to find the info you need a lot of times.

Also, having built in wireless that works consistently is nice. We only have one wireless card for the club laptops so they can't be networked as we would like to do without stringing CAT5 across the trailer. Also, I've not had much luck getting even that one wireless card to work.

But yes, if you would like to help troubleshoot the network issues we are having with the machines we are currently using, it would be appreciated.

If they are that bad then they do need to be replaced.

This is why we've been using our personal computers. Lets not forget to mention that the club laptops take about 10 minutes to go from power off to fully booted. I'm really surprised that they haven't been thrown off of something tall yet.
