  • Classing my car - AutoX n3wB

Hello all. After attending last Sundays event at BRC it got me motivated to pull my clunker civic out of the garage after 2 years and actually do something with it. The only problem is I have no idea what class to register it for. Is this something that will be determined at tech inspection? Here is the list of current mods done to it:

    93 Honda Civic CX Hatchback

    Engine - Trans
    B16a2
    AEM Shortram
    Pacesetter Header
    Spoon N1 Exhaust
    Prothane Engine Mount Inserts
    Cusco Oil Catch Can

    Clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch
    Skunk 2 Short Shifter
    Skunk 2 Shift Knob
    Prothane Shifter Bushings

    Suspension
    Ground Control Coilovers
    Tokico Blues (non adjustable) Struts
Omni Power Front Upper Adjustable Control Arms (Camber correction only)
Omni Power Rear Lower Control Arms
    Energy Suspension bushing kit
No sway bars front or rear, CX trim didn't have any :/

Wheels & Tires I will be running
    Factory 6.5" Honda wheels
    205/50/15 Falken Azenis

    Exterior
    Mugen Front lip
    Spoon Mirrors
    Spoon Duckbill
    VIS CF Hood OEM style
    OEM headlights w/ blackhousing
    Vision amber corners
    JDM EG6 Taillights

    Interior
Kirk Racing 4 pt Back-Half Roll Cage
    G-Force Latch/Link Harnesses
    Tenzo R Race Seats
    Sparco Steering Wheel
    240mm Broadway Mirror
    Integra DC2 Dash

All other interior removed. I have door panels and most of the interior to go back in it minus the headliner, carpet, rear seat backing, and small misc trim pieces.

The car is not very fast. 0-60 = the popcorn's done <Wow those Smileys mean business, they're huge!

Here's a few photos as well. Looking forward to getting to know everyone! Any help is appreciated.

It's a volunteer organization. Like in all such entities, the only ways to de-volunteer are to either die, move thousands of miles away, or enter the witness protection program.

Not even these are a sure thing though!

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

BTW...the car being discussed looks like a ST or CSP car if he puts his interior back in . XP as is but definitely undertired and wheeled for the xp or csp class.

Thanks for the input everyone. I would like to make it legal for a class that it might actually be competitive in. ST and SM seem to be the biggest so guess I'm digging trough the parts pile to find my interior parts haha.

One question though. How much of the interior needs to be back in place? I doubt I can fit a headliner over the cage & may have to cut up a carpet and piece it in there if required. Would like to get it all ironed out so I can start the 2011 season fresh. I also plan to race on the 10th.

I would not let any issue prevent me from bringing the car ....that being said you should show up with said car and we will help you have as good of a time as possible with it . THE END. See you there.

except the motor swap and (I am not 100% on this) the dash

front seats forward for SM, and all of it for ST.

On this note though, you will be running in Novice which puts you against all other novices in what we call a PAX class where depending on your class your time is multipied by a given number and then the best out of that number is considered the overall winner.

the b16 was available in the SiR civic hatch from japan. i read in some of the classes that it was legal to swap a motor if that motor was available from the same model car. Like taking the motor from an Integra TypeR and swapping it into a Integra LS chassis.

dash was swapped because the factory civic one was atrocious. all the components behind the dash remain and are functional.

the windshield is cracked on the car at the passenger side. Going to hopefully make it by the body shop this week so a new one can be installed. Assuming this has to be fixed before I compete, seems like a no-brainer :P

us model cars, not foreign, and that is only if they fall in the same line in SP, as for the dash, aside from seats, steering wheels, monitoring and safety equipment, in order to be considered legal for SM it must retain the factory interior from the drivers forward. i.e, carpet, door panels, dash and all that good stuff. I am not saying you should change your car, I am just stating what changes your classes. I happen to like the way your car looks in the pics, and that is saying a lot coming from me.

I am with Cholewa, I don't think anyone would protest you running Novice SM,

I can't speak on the windshield, TECH would have to cover that. However, I assume you are correct on to needing to be fixed prior to competing.
