This thread was originally started in regards to our standalone PDX event we had last year. Ted's post recently was following the TT event, in which our PDX cars with numbers suggestions was likely not shared with our TVR brethren.

I have thought about numbers for PDX but with only 8-10 PDX cars it has not been an issue for the corner workers to identify cars. If we were running 30-40 PDX cars, then it becomes worthwhile. In the HPDEs I ran we had a number and a letter to designate which run group we were in. Stuck on the windshield.Craig Farr

Not being able to properly identify a car that has a problem is a big source of stress for corner workers. A few months ago, I was working an event with two similar Mustangs. Both were kinda yellow, but one was a bit more orange. One or the other got called in for a passing infraction, and the wrong one got the black flag.
Numbers on the windshield are inadequate, and are one of my biggest gripes about working track days. It's too hard to pick out a relatively tiny number anywhere other than on the door.
An unreadable number could cost somebody an engine and the whole group a bunch of track time, not to mention the potential safety ramifications of not being able to counsel someone who is doing something outside the rules, etc.
Ideally I'd like to see decent sized, good contrast numbers on the doors, and readable numbers front and back, as well. Anything less is disappointing, at least.Chuck Schultz
