Yes. Factory rollover protection is also permissible for a PDX, but I'm not sure what guarantee Honda puts on the roll hoops in the S2000. If you find documentation (owner's manual or shop manual) that references them as roll protection that would satisfy the requirement. The main reason I eventually sold my S2000 was the difficulty in finding ways to play with it on track.Originally posted by RenoVan View PostSo if I wanted to do this in my S2000 I would need to install a roll bar or a hard top, is that correct?
The flip side is I do not know your track experience. If this would be your first time on track I would have to put an instructor in the car with you. I will not ask an instructor to get in a car with inadequate roll protection.
Hope this helps. If you decide you cannot drive in the PDX we could use your help at the track.

So, this is an SCCA-sanctioned PDX then?
I have a couple questions. Is 2nd driver the same price as first? Some clubs discount 2nd driver, some don't. I'd like to come drive, and possibly bring my 16 year old daughter as well. She has some basic driver training, a Teen Survival School, and a few autocrosses under her belt (and her first trophy finish as of yesterday!), but is new to the track. Would the Novice group accomodate someone who might start off pretty slow? She will get up to speed, I have no doubt, but may be fairly timid at first. I, on the other hand, have instructed at many track days at TGPR (as well as Barber, Road Atlanta, Roebling, Nashville Superspeedway, and some others) and would like to act as her instructor. Would that be kosher? I would also most likely sign up to run in the Advanced group myself.
TGPR is always fun (and safe), so I would love to start her off there!

There had been some talk of an informal gathering afterward away from the track. Probably in Oxford.Originally posted by tonyTIGERX8 View PostLooks like I'm in with my newly acquired (yesterday) Miata ... is there a Christmas party planned?

Awesome! Have them contact me asap to confirm their spot.Originally posted by Vfastcaddy View PostFYI: At the TVR BOD meeting last night we identified 3 likely, and possibly 5 persons from the "North" who plan to enter but hadn't as of last night.
There are currently 2-3 spots left in each group and registrations are rolling in.

I was planning on a Wiregrass event on the 8th but they rescheduled to he 1st - already registered at Chattanooga. So, I'd love to go to attend this event but I am not ready for mod the car for with roll bar.Originally posted by bimmertech View PostYes. I was concerned about the broomstick test with a Tracks Unlimited event at Barber a couple months ago. TU and Barber did not require a roll bar on an S2000 for novices and maybe intermediate levels too.
Here's a statement from Honda on the S:
"Even though open-topped cars are exempted, the S2000 meets the federal standard for occupant protection in a rollover accident. The driver's and passenger's roll bars are made of 1.5-inch diameter high-strength steel pipe with a .080-inch wall thickness, and tie directly into the frame. Additional protection is provided by reinforced door pillars, windshield posts and the windshield frame."

The S was built to the same standard as a HT vehicle. If this documentation is enough I'll be there is there is room available. If not, thank you for the consideration.Steve Saunders
