No a@@ kicking, but I got signed off and came home with only a cracked wheel. Learned alot about Roebling and need to learn a ton more about getting racey. Brian Boardman from TVR went as my crew chief and kept my car tightened and torques and ready to run. Many thanks to him for his time. Several of the TVR folks were there lending a hand as instructors and corner workers. I really appreciated seeing familiar faces in the paddock and corner stands. Chuck Schultz and his wife were there working flags and Timing and scoring. Bobby Bitterman called daily to track the event, I appreciate him letting me borrow his trailer and giving me more feedback about the track.

I had a great instructor, Hector from Robinson Motorsports. He gave me some great feedback about my line and shift points etc. I dropped nearly seven seconds off my lap times over the course of the event. I had a blast! Wish I would of seen some more ALSCCA folks there.

I placed 2nd in the Saturdays Race and 1st in Sundays race.

I may run the PBOC race if I can swing it. I was running 1:28's. Bobby B. tells me that's not very fast but since I was running 1:34's in November I felt I had improved quite a bit. I was more comfortable in the car too.

John, if I remember correctly, other organizations will only recognize a regional or above comp license. If you want to run PBOC, call Joanne and inquire before you spend your money. A good race would be the NASA race at RA in March. Once again, contact NASA and ask about registering. The first SCCA race looks like the Jim Stark in April...always a large attendance and several of us from here go.

Lap times...to be competitive in Spec Miata you need to get to the 1"24s. ITA 1.22s. Don;t worry about the lap times...speed will come with seat time. Make your car comfortable and get as much W to W track experience as possible. Chuck

Gee, why not this weekend at Road Atlanta? They could use the entry, from what I hear.

                    Congrats on the successful weekend.

I got upstairs on Sunday and did some logging, and only made one major error on the 'phones all weekend - didn't see the course marshal coming counter race with a flat tow when they did the course check!

John had a great weekend and looked good doing it. There were a lot of Alabama folks at the school either as students, crew, workers and instructors (OK, some were from North Alabama).

The weekend was not without its exciting moments: The Domino's Pizza ex Michael Waltrip car finding the wall in T9; the missing drain plug oiling the track down from T7 to T2 and causing a bunch of trauma to cars; the broken driveshaft at the start of Sunday's race which resulted in cars going everywhere except for the Mustang and 924 that found the wall; the rain teaching drivers smoothness; the CFC Reynard setting a new track record; George Bugg getting to see his car hit from behind right in front of his perch in the T9 corner stand; etc, etc, etc

That sounds about right for the driver's school. Anyone get on their lid? How bad is Bugg's car?
