Threads w/ no new posts

This is just a simple thing that kind of bugs me ... when I use the "New Posts" link I always get a huge list of posts in a separate area with the note "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts."

(Sorry, I can't turn the bold font off for some reason ...)

I looked to see if this was simply a user preference but I can't find an option for that. This is the first I've vBulletin site I've seen with this turned on. I just don't see much of a need for it since I use the "New Posts" link ... I mean, I want to see new posts, not old posts I haven't looked at yet ... I saw those last time I clicked "New Posts" and there is likely a reason I didn't look at them then.

And, if I click the "New Posts" link and there are in fact no new posts, I don't get the no new posts message, but this long list of threads that are not new and simply unread instead.

Also, I'm not sure if this is related, but the new post notification icons on the main forum page are always lit ... most of them at least. Maybe it's related since they contain posts I haven't read. I don't find it helpful since I really just want to see new posts ... again, see above.

Maybe it's an issue ... maybe not. Perhaps it's useful for others. Just thought I'd mention my thoughts on it. Thanks.

matt those are post that you did not read the last time you hit "new post" I don't think I can do anything about that but I will research it when I get time and see.

Yeah, I got that part. But they don't ever roll off ...

It seems like it's a default for this version of vBulletin ... i haven't seen it before and can't remember if it's in the admin panel. I would guess it has to be. I can't remember since it's been a while since I was admin of a vBulletin site.

At the top of the page, go to quick links, and click on mark forum read. That'll make the extraneous stuff go away.

Just make sure you don't forget to look at any new posts you want to see before doing that.
