  • VOLUNTEER for our club race Aug 27/28

It is that time of the year again, time for our annual club race. And we still need a lot of volunteers to make it happen.
I hope you had a chance to read my July 14th post titled Club Race 2020 – Save the Date August 27/28. It described many, but not all the volunteer duties required to put on a race.

Our main area of need is Corner Marshals (Flagging & Communications). Barber has 17 turns requiring a minimum of 34 Marshals. For every position we are short, we must hire non-SCCA contractors. This job is both fun and challenging. Listen to what one experienced corner marshal has to say: https://youtu.be/b2YpEpHSskA
For those of you who have never done this, we are offering Zoom training on Sunday afternoon Aug 14th at 4:00pm CDT. An invite to the ZOOM training will be sent to you after you sign up. The training will be recorded and available later. We will also place you with someone who has some experience in the position
Our other areas of need are in Pit & Grid, Timing & Scoring, and Race Administration. Jobs in these areas include, aligning cars in proper position for the race, recording sequential car numbers during the races, moving box lunches and drinks to the proper area, buying ice at Bucees, passing out water bottles in post-race impound and “other duties” as assigned by the race directors. Please sign up in Motorsports Reg in the area you want to work.

To volunteer for any position, go onto Motorsportsreg.com (you will need to establish a free account) and register. The volunteer positions are at the bottom of the list of race groups. Anyone ages 16-18 working will need both an SCCA and Barber Motorsports Park minor waiver. The SCCA waiver requires both parents’ signatures unless one has sole custody. Parents and the minor must establish SCCA profiles, but do not need to be members. The Barber waiver requires only one parental signature. Neither of these can be done at the last minute, expect the SCCA waiver to take a week to complete. Contact the Regional Executive at the email below for more information on minor waivers.

Trial and weekend SCCA memberships are available. A $50 stipend per day plus lunch is provided.
