Sometimes folks want to help out at Club Racing events, but don't know where or when to find them.
The Southeast Division posts a schedule online, every year, with a list of all of the SCCA sanctioned Club Racing events for the year in the Division.
The first event in our SCCA Area (Area 12) is February 17-19th, at Roebling Road Raceway, near Savannah, GA. This is the annual Hyler Craft Memorial driver's school weekend, where new racers get to learn about racing in the SCCA's traditional way - mentoring by experienced racers with a combination of classroom and on-track activities.
I've worked this event a few times, and there has never been as many workers as would be ideal. In fact, one year, they pulled two of us out of Sound Control and put us on a corner station!
As with any Club Race weekend, all volunteers are welcomed heartily, no matter their experience level or area of interest, as long as they are willing to participate and learn.
This is a great way to get in some travel, participate in some fun racing, and learn more about how Club Racing works, while gaining the satisfaction that comes from helping your fellow racers.
