  • Question for our Workers

I would like to ask for your input on the use of the Worker Volunteer Program that SCCA has. When you renew your SCCA membership, you input what events you worked and you get a discount. How many of you use this feature? How many of you don't? Would you be upset if it went away?

There is discussion among SCCA National regarding the Volunteer Program and we are trying to find out how many of our ALSCCA members use the program so we can provide feedback. Thank you for your time!

I use it when I can remember. I would not be disappointed if it was replaced by an easier to use incentive program but would hate to see less recognition for our volunteers.

I use it and received a $15 discount on my membership renewal. I'd hate to see that go away.

I just discovered this, and have added my F&C for Barber's and TGPR events. Now, my membership is up at the end of this month, so should I wait till the bitter end or go ahead and renew?

How long until the discount is applied? Or have I waited too long?

Had no idee it existed. My region is still listed as TVR. Can't change that anywhere I could find. Stupid interwebs and computers.

I use it, and would be less than thrilled if it were no longer an option.

The discount will be shown on your renewal form. I don't think they will take it away from you if you wait longer to renew.

I remember doing that when I worked the Barber race a couple years ago. It's absence wouldn't necessarily deter me from working events in the future but anything to encourage volunteering is a good thing.

It's currently a bit of a pain to use, but the program is the very least the club should do. Specialty chiefs should remind everyone at each event that the program is available, but it's hard to explain and easy to forget in the morning rush.

There have been years where Sue and I had enough combined credits to zero out our membership dues entirely and carry some over for the next year.

We use it and have saved a bunch of money doing so. I've posted info about every time we have a worker thread. I would be very unhappy if this went away.

I've used it in the past when I actually worked events. It is a nice benefit for working. The only change I would suggest is work in a way that covers this automatically as part of the standard race paperwork rather than rely on workers inputting it themselves. Many workers aren't aware of the program and everyone already signs in with their membership number and name for credentials, so I don't see why national doesn't just go ahead and add that to the member file when the paperwork is processed.
