Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14, 2013 is our next Time Trial/PDX at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway, 46 Pilgrim Lane, Munford, AL. http://tgprace.com/
Here's some general info for volunteers who will be helping as corner workers:
-------schedule for each day------
arrive 7am
sign waiver at gate
register inside clubhouse, in the middle of the paddock
meet me at 7:20 for worker orientation/assignments/equipment issue
cars on course at 8
1-hour lunch, free!
wrap up competition sessions, then worker laps until 5
pizza (saturday only)
--------------what to bring-------------
yourself
somebody else who wants to help (surprise me!)
cooler to carry club-provided water, gatorade, and ice
snacks
sunblock
mosquito repellent
prescription medicines
solo-legal helmet for worker laps!
----------what to wear or carry with you---------------
sturdy, but comfortable, shoes for uneven, and possibly wet, ground
cotton white shirt (easy to see, doesn't look like a flag, won't melt to your skin if exposed to heat)
long pants, ideally white cotton, such as painters' pants, although cotton jeans will do
other, additional clothing which you might need in case of imperfect weather (rain, cold, etc.)
leather palmed gloves (all race car parts are hot, and many are sharp)
a loud whistle, if you have one
earplugs (in case the guy next to you blows his whistle. . . and for loud cars)
-----------what else to do before the event--------
go to this page http://www.yopics.net/Flaggin/ to find out more about working corners at a sports car racing event.
find another volunteer to ride and work with you
check http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...99994659423828 for the official National Weather Service forecast for Talladega Gran Prix Raceway
-------------------
Sorry about the outline format, but I'm trying to post this between lightning strikes.
Email k4cay.chuck@gmail.com or PM back (please don't reply all) if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you for volunteering. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning.
