  • Crash and Burn School

I spoke with Faynisha today and she is all for having a joint FBF/SCCA crash and burn school. What I need is a list of everyone that is interested in attending. It will happen in the beginning of 09. We don't have a exact date yet. I will get more details out as they become available.

Speaking of which, if anyone has a junk car sitting around that they want to donate to the cause let me know.

That's awfully generous, but maybe we should find a less-interesting car to set on fire than yours. . .

Hahahaah! It was great to see you today Chuck!

Now please read a little more carefully. I said *I* am in. Not my car!

And in the interest of avoiding further "confusion," I guess I should add that I'm volunteering myself to take the training, not to BE the training vehicle.

OK this is going to hell in a handbasket isn't it?....

Interested, but it would really depend on the date scheduled. (And if there is room for a out-of-region attendee).

I'll see if we have a trade that we could use or if we get something before the date.

jamie be aware that plan is to set it on fire and burn it long enough for everyone to get a chance to spray it.

Is there any chance that we can parlay this into some sort of SCCA license upgrade .Chuck,Evan,is there any gain in trying to get this approved with SEDIV or national to count towards a license upgrade? If so who would we need to contact?

Really pushing your luck, aren't ya?

OTOH, I will attest that CB did essentially beg you to drive the car. . .

Back to the subject - These kinds of schools are a great service to those who can put the info to use (anybody who drives a car, actually.) On their own, they are worth attending, if only to learn a bit about what we crazy people on a corner are supposed to be doing there. It's also very worthwhile to attend such a school prior to your first trackside appearance, since you'll understand what you're trying to do and learn a little better. I also enjoy taking them, as a refresher. For me, there's almost always an "Oh, yeah, I used to know that" moment.

Attending a C&B school, in itself, has not much (if any) weight towards a F&C license upgrade. What really counts is days of experience on station, over a period of time, since you learn much more by doing. On the "job" experience, showing off your skills, dedication, teamwork, and willingness to learn, coupled with the personal knowledge and support of the Flag Chiefs you work with, is what you need to upgrade. That, and sending the form to the DA. Remind me to send in my form, OK?
