Well, if this is what you are thinking, please reconsider that things like TT, PDX, Club Racing, and the Teen Driving Clinic are other important parts of the Club you enjoy so much, and that all of our members, with their varied interests, deserve our support. These events also help pay the bills when the van needs work, the website hosting fees need to be paid, the computers are obsolete, or somebody wipes out a timing light component. Then there is the annual dinner, possibly the only time you get to meet some interesting folks you never cross paths with, otherwise.

Of course, your biggest worry is probably that, like me, you'll become addicted to standing in a corner, watching all kinds of racing from the second-best seat in the house. I just spent 8 of the last 11 days at the track, honing my skills and having a great time watching, and being part of, one of the most exciting things we can do in public without being arrested. I'd be helping with the Grand Am tire test this week, too, if I had any vacation time left. This started, for me, with one weekend at TGPR helping with a TT, in exchange for a free Solo entry.

Come on over to Munford in the fall - it's nice country, just a short drive away, with Mount Cheaha in the background, and an easy event to get a taste of what all the noise is about concerning Track Trials and Performance Driving eXperience. Knowing what goes on behind the scenes at race events makes them even more amazing. Come be amazed!

Do you have to be an SCCA member to work? I have a younger brother and a couple other people I'm working on getting to the track to work if it's ok.

I don't think so. They will just have to fill out the weekend membership forms of course.

Sara is correct. Just so everyone knows the weekend memberships aren't a grand conspiracy to force you into the SCCA, it's simply to get you protected under the insurance for the event.
