  • We still need help at Barber MSP

    F & C Meeting at Barber MSP
Meetings will be held at base of Tower.
Saturday - 7:15 AM (moved up 15 min. due to moving workers to corners)
    Sunday - 7:30 AM
Both days green course at 8:00 AM. Workers must be on station with communications set up at 7:50 AM each day.

We still need help at Barber MSP.

All F&C who haven't yet registered:
    * This is a 2 day event. Saturday and Sunday. You still have the Monday holiday to yourself.
    * Barber is in the Central time zone. In order to reduce costs you can leave the Atlanta area on Saturday morning and gain an hour traveling to the track for the morning meeting. Thus, only one night camping or hotel.
    * Note that the Atlanta Region is doubling the reimbursement so if you buddy up and share a room you may not be spending much out of pocket at all.
    * The track food has been great and the Alabama Region puts on a great party on Saturday.
    * Most if not all stations are 'catch fence free" so you get an even better seat than at some of Atlanta's stations.
    * Most important, your club needs you there. Based on the registrations we are still short of number needed to complete assignments for all the corners at Barber.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK DOUBLE SAARC AND PRO-IT.

F&C volunteers are needed for the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend at the Barber MSP. This event is held jointly by the Atlanta Region and Alabama Region. This track is like a park setting. This is and excellent must see track if you have never been there; a fun track for both drivers and volunteers. Jump right in there and sign up on www.MotorsportReg.com. Don Drennon will cover for me as Flag Chief at the event. Please refer questions to me as I will be collecting the questions and working with Don to staff the event. Also, Bob Hudson will be the chief steward for the event and he sure would like to see some familiar faces on the corners and familiar voices on communications. The Worker Expense Reimbursement for the Double SAARC at Barber has been doubled to $40 per day for Regional and Division License holders and $60 per day for National License holders.

NOTE: We are trying to arrange a discount on hotel rooms so please let me know ASAP if you will need a room. We will do our best get a reduced rate.

Any questions please let me know and I will try to respond with answers as soon as I can.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Here it is from the official schedule -

      FRI, September 4, 2009
7:00 am – 4:00 pm Registration for Test Day; SCCA weekend Registration
8:30 am Drivers’ Meeting for Test Day
9:00 am (approx) Test Day begins
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm SCCA Driver, Crew, Guest and Race Staff Registration opens
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm Tech Inspection open (those with current Annual Tech can bring helmet and log book only)

F&C will be handled by the local pro flaggers, FBF. Otherwise, I think it's hot track at 9 and each group (probably big-bore, small-bore and maybe two kinds of wings 'n' things) should get 4 20-minute sessions before the end of the day at 5, according to a post by Bill Perry a couple of days ago - http://teamtac.org/e107/e107_plugins...opic.php?41388

I guess I expected to be flagging on Friday. Maybe not now? I think my wife is going to be working timing that day.

Many of the race specialties will not be working on Friday. F&C, Start, and possibly Pit and Grid will be covered by FBF. T&S won't be needed (normal for a test day,) so Clyde probably won't even set up equipment until mid-afternoon.

Tech, Sound and Registration will be working, as will one Steward (Bill P.)

Friday would be a great day to enjoy the museum and move around to various viewing locations, to get to know the place. If you want to help at Registration, Tech or Sound, you'd probably be welcomed (definitely at Sound.)

From an email I got from Bob McColl -

              F & C Meeting at Barber MSP
Meetings will be held at base of Tower.
Saturday - 7:15 AM (moved up 15 min. due to moving workers to corners)
              Sunday - 7:30 AM
Both days green course at 8:00 AM. Workers must be on station with communications set up at 7:50 AM each day.

I'd try to be at registration by 7, just to be sure.

                    Here's the SEDiv schedule - http://www.sedivracing.org/2009Schedule.pdf

After Crow, here's the next, biggest race weekend, at Roebling Road - http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...13CD9CF9B2BCF3

For the Goblins Go and the Charge of the Headlight Brigade, at VIR, register here - http://www.ncrscca.com/workers.htm

Then, in November, there's the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta.

Also, Atlanta Region needs help at Road A for these events -

September 22-26 ALMS Petit Le Mans, Road Atlanta (Atlanta Reg. SCCA Trade-Off days)
October 17-18 SVRA, Road Atlanta (Atlanta Reg. SCCA Trade-Off days)
December 5-6 NASA, Road Atlanta (Atlanta Reg. SCCA Trade-Off days)

If that's not enough, I can give you contact info for the pro flagging group at Barber.

The club provides corner workers and sometimes other race specialties for these events, and, in return, gets discount on track rent for club events.

I think this is the last year of this arrangement, BTW.
