  • Honda Crankshaft Damper Holding Tool

Does anyone have one of these I can borrow/rent/buy, I need to put a timing belt on the ol' DD and I'm pretty sure this would make it a lot easier.

EDIT: If you see Pop at the track don't tell him I asked this, he will end up spending the better part of the day machining one.

Daryl when I did mine just burned some holes for the bolts in a lawnmower blade, it worked perfectly.

I have over the years fabbed up my own tool for this sorta thing out of a strip of 1/8 thick x 1" wide steel. One end is for the Miata crank bolt removal and the other end is for BMW fan removal. My Dad laughs at all the "tools" I've made over the years, but they work.

Unfortunately the Civic has no such holes.

They want you to buy on of these...

If no one has one I'll make something. Believe me I'm in no hurry to do this...

just get a big breaker bar on it, and crank it so the bar lodges itself into the ground.

I'm pretty sure that would tighten the bolt, if I'm wrong there is no way a Honduh has enough tourqe to break the bolt loose.

Darryl,I will tell you this ...That bolt is so tight...even with that tool,it is so hard to bust it loose you wouldnt believe it .I dont have the tool but i will tell you how to get it off .You will need an air supply,an impact wrench and an acetalene torch .First heat the head of the bolt untill it is red (this will relax it a bit)then buzz it out with the impact. It will cool while you change your belt, then reinstall it with an impact .Call it a day!!!It works.

I own this tool. After trying every other way you see mentioned in the posts above - including a 3/4" impact at 100psi, I broke down and bought one. Even with this tool, you'll need a 6' extension bar on a 1/2" ratchet to loosen the nut.

I can bring it to Points 4 next weekend, and you can return it at a later event. Let me know if you still need it.

This tool was for an Acura B18C1 (Integra 1994-2001 GSR)... I can't imagine that your Honda uses a different one, but you may want to research it a bit.

Peter, I would appreciate it very much for you to let me borrow it. I would gladly let you keep all three of my kids as collateral.

If you threaten me with children again, you'll never borrow the tool....

Just Kidding... I'll bring it Sunday and you can keep your children.

I told my wife that once, and so far it's worked.

                              Hi Darryl,

I was scared away by the rain today. The next event I'll be able to attend in Bham is July. I can send the tool to your house via Fed Ex for a few dollars if you'd like it sooner.
