If you can find a deepwell that will fit beyond a 19mm lead the way, please. As you can see we tried spinning it off with a chisel too, the metal is too soft. The back of the nut goes down too deep in the wheel to make splitting it in half feasible too. you could hammer on a socket that's 1mm too small and use an impact gun or big breaker bar to torque it off. just don't use a socket that you want to keep.
Someone on tbricks had the same problem with a 944 and that was the best suggestion. After going to a porsche dealer with the VIN to get a new key..
If you can't chisel it in half to stick something in there, sledge + socket is the way to go. Drop by sears and get a craftsman socket set, lifetime warranty. Return the broken sockets as defective and be done. I believe also, that places like autozone sell sockets with teeth that dig into the nut/bolt head as you loosen it, tightening the socket onto the bolt.Last edited by Cholewa; 02-21-2009, 03:18 AM.M. Evan, if the wheel studs are not a pain in the @## to change ,try drilling the stud out, #1 get a good center punch mark in the stud,#2 select a drill a little smaller than the body of the stud ,if you have a true center you can leave nothing but threads, but if you have never done this before I would start with maybe 1/4" and work my way up as large as you can before getting in to the nut ,then just brake off the stud with a hammer and chisel/punch! should the stud be really hard grade 8? you can use a massonry carbide tipped drill, believe it are not !

I'd honestly use one of the remover tools and go ahead and get a full set of replacements. You've probably already damaged it enough to require a new lug set (Those are probably bolts, aren't they?) ...Matt W.
