Advan A048 any good?

So the Advan A048 are on closeout right now on Tirerack. I can get a set for cheaper than RS3s.

Are these any good for auto-x? I know they're not STU legal (60 TW rating) but I could bump to BSP or SM for local events. Perhaps use them for track days.

From what I've read, they don't have the initial bite of comparable tires, and they get worse with heat cycles. Also, the ones on closeout on TR are 2008 production, so they're already really old.
