  • A little Miata help

I have been fighting a missing and stumbling issue for a while now I've changed coils wires plugs mass air checked timming it only does it once when I start it drives fine for about a mile and then just about dies the more gas I give it the worse it is, it does this for a couple second then pops and takes of like nothing wrong I think I've narrowed it dow to ecu or crank sensor I barrowed a ecu from Delanie but I have to have the 95 1/2 so his ecu won't even crank in my car and I would like to see if somebody had the 95 1/2 ecu I could test in my car that would be grate but also would like more info if anybody has any that would work to oh and yea I've found ecu's online they range from 90-150 just would like to know befor paying that much

Lyle Cain has a 95 miata, I believe. His did something similar and it turned out to be the ecu. He bought it from Alan Branch. Lemme text him

Dang-it. Lyle's car is a 94. How many wires do your coils have? 3-wires = 95.5, 4 wires = 95. 95 was a transition year for the Miata to OBD-2. You would need to use the 95.5 specific ECU to run three pin coils. I wonder if you swapped coils and ecu with a 94 if it think it 's a 94? The main harness is probably different as well.

See if Alan Branch has one for testing purposes. If it fixes it give him money. If it doesn't send it back.

He's a miata guy and a SCCA club member.

I'm checking with the Partsgroup to see if he has one to try. We'll see.

Have you checked to see if med center has a way to test the ecu?
