  • innovate motorsports sensor failures unmasked

I know that alot of us use megasquirt now and I wanted to pass this along since I have been fighting this for a while. My innovate MTXL was eating sensors...rather it was rejecting them at an alarming rate. 1 about every 3-5 months=$60+ for a new sensor . There is nothing wrong with these sensors. There is however something wrong with the way innovate is using them. This same LSU sensor is a OEM VW A/F ratio sensor and lasts for hundreds of thousands of miles . I sent 3 of the sensors that the innovate rejected (E8) to 14point7.com and had them test them ....they in turn tested them with lambda gas and found no flaws. They also took one of them and integrated their controller right into the connector of it (what they call a spartan)and sent it back to me for free. I have been using this controller for around 6 months now on top of the 4 months that it was already in service... I have 0 problems . Guess what...no warmup time! More can be read here but the relevant post start on the second page of that thread.

I've been using LC-1 ever since i've had the Megasquirts. (that sounds nasty) I've had only one failure, and it was a controller, and that was when I fried my MS board.

I've had no experience with MTXL though, so maybe it is just the different product.

I've had two failed sensors on my LM-1. Both were related to settled condensation on the sensor. (I also killed two that saw impact at around 0 MPH ...)The LC-1 in the Evo is solid going on 6 years now.

I'm with John ... sounds like the MTXL is the issue. I wonder what changed in the controller?

On the other hand ...you are not putting the kindof daily miles on your that I do so that could be why you are not replacing more of them but I had 2 different innovates on 2 different cars with 2 completely different engine configurations and both cars went through sensors like they were growing on trees.

I've put about 50k on this one sensor in the Evo. Maybe you drive a lot more than me ...
