  • Resurface pressure plate. Can you?

    I have a question for the brain trust. can a pressure plate be resurfaced?.

    I would think you could sand it a little to rough it up, but I don't think it could be resurfaced in the traditional sense.

      It's not common practice, but it is possible. I don't believe anyone would recommend it.
      The worst that can happen is you remove to much material and end up with a slipping clutch. The question is: how much is too much?

      If it's something you're really considering, I'd call the manufacturer and see if they'll advise you on the service limit.

        I'm sure it's possible.

        Your main concern would be taking off too much material and effectively reducing your clamping force.

        But, honestly ... how would you hold it in place to resurface? You would need some type of grinder that you could bolt the PP on top of while the grinding surface spins within it. Sounds pretty complicated.

        Definitely let us know if you figure it out.

          There's a big shop downtown on northside called something like, birmingham surfaces and clutches or something? They might be able to tell you a definitive answer and how to do it.
