Its from doing an extra special good job as a showing of how good you drive

Ah, so I'm not the only one with that theory. I tried to ask on another forum a while back if that may be the case and they seemed to either think I was imagining something or that something was wrong with my car. So either we're both nuts or everybody else is!!

I'm going to stick with my "passenger + smoother driving = lower times" theory for now, it seems more acceptable.

well as far as that theory is concerned

i feel if it is cornerbalanced without a passenger then you'll be slower

I've had that debate in my head before.

          +balance + weight = faster?

The last time we had a auto-x at TGPR I was a second behind Aimee going into the last run, who was driving my car. I'd already spun two or three times that day. I decided I was going to slow day and just get a clean run. I came back in and was two seconds faster, clean.

I think Ricky just calle you slow.

She does bring all those non-racers from AU all the time

Erv, i think it has to do with the drivetrain too ... AWD takes well to quick input, especially if you want it to rotate at all. I might have to review video, but you were probably smoother and more tedious in the MR2.

I did notice your tenacity during the virtual auto-x ... you were going a little nuts on my wheel. Given that circumstance, you could have been quicker by dialing it back just a tad ... you'd smooth yourself out by spending less time correcting for going in hot or powering on too soon.

                    Erv in the MR2 ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKj_U...eature=channel

Erv in the STi ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7LDM...eature=channel

I only find you overly vigorous on the tight slaloms ... but you are a little rougher on the STi than the MR2.

I only get scared with Jordan's driving when we start going backwards... in MY car

One day in the next 10 years, I hope to learn these 'smooth' inputs I've been reading about. Maybe my tires will last a few extra runs

Haha thanks Ricky! It might take me a few events to get used to these tires tho A little off-topic (as if we werent already off topic 5 posts ago) is anyone else going to Dixie Nationals? Sheehy convinced me to go! Heard the pavement is awesome and it's during my spring break, so I was sold!

Thanks for reminding me - I don't have the National Tour and Pro Solo dates on my calendar, yet. I see the Dixie Tour is the same weekend the Atlantic series runs on Hutchinson Island in Savannah, and some car club will be having a track day in Birmingham. That shouldn't hold too many people back.

It's exciting to go to one of these events and find out how you compare to top competition, and to root for folks you know competing at that level, as well.
