  • new megasquirt firmware...simply amazing!!

To all of you guys running megasquirt 2 especially you that have had problems with AE false triggers, noisy TPS dot , and crappy idle control ....our prayers have been answered!!! I have about 100 miles on this new code and it is simply the bomb. I have been able to achieve a TPS dot threshold of 2.5 with absolutely 0 false triggers and my idle control is rock solid !! This beta test mod can be found http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewto...p?f=91&t=44289

Try it ...you wont be dissapointed ! If you are on firware older than 3.3.0 then you will likely have to remap VE as it will be about a point rich due to the map averaging code that was added in 3.3.0 but you wont be disappointed in the results.

Looks like I've got a 3.1 ROM set up. If I upgrade, do I have to redo all of the settings I have?

Matt. there are some changes to general lags and to the VE table due to the averaging map but you dont necesarily have to use map averaging but the option is there .If you chose not to use map averaging then you would not have to remap the VE tables.

Regardless the additions are absolutely worth the update trust me .....especially with the improvements in accelerattion enrichment. The is a PDF in that thread I linked to . Read that and it will go over all of the changes .

I'm not worried about the VE tables. I've not tuned anything. I've just set up all of the sensors and constants and all for the car. Would I have to redo all of that to upgrade?

No you would only have to adjust your lags to the suggested values and such as that and if you havent tuned the VE yet tehn I would definitely use map averaging .

What do you mean "lags?" I've not gotten down and dirty in the software yet ...

under basic settings heading there is a category for "general lags" That is where you setup the lag percentages for all of the inputs . They are default set at 50 the most part and for the map you have the choice of using a set angle or using average . average is the way to go and pretty much all of the lags can be bumped to 100 which is no lag compensation for all but the coolant/mat and RPM.

Its all pretty much laid out for you in the PDF doc for that firmware .

                      So, just to verify ...

If I'm running 3.1 and have a working ROM ... I can upgrade to 3.3 and it just works. I don't have to redo all of my general settings, etc? Then, I can set up the lags (which I've not seen in 3.1) and choose to average or not and go?

Sorry, this is just one of those MS specific things I'm not familiar with. I've spent a lot of time setting up the 3.1 ROM and honestly don't know why I made some of the decisions I did, so replicating it would be a pain, especially if some options have changed between 3.1 and 3.3.

Matt its just as easy as saving your tune first, flashing the new firmware , installing the ini file to tuner studio that comes with 3.3 and flashing your saved tune right back in and editing a few of the settings as outlined in the PDF doc. Not necessary to start from scratch

MS2 can control some VVT systems that are not PWM like older vtek hondas and the early toyota on/off type VVT, but not VVTi. MS3 can do most anything you want .
