  • Brake proportioning valve setup

I'm planning to install a bias adjustment valve on the Beetle. I've got a few questions ...

    1) I'm used to seeing single valves on cars (I think). I assumed this was in line with the rear brakes. Don't you normally want to increase the rear pressure, not lower it, as most cars have a heavy front bias? I feel like I'm confused on this.

    2) Are the single valves commonly used on one half of the system, or do people use the combination valves (2 in 3 out) and adjust that way? From what I can tell, this setup can limit the front or the rear, allowing for a bias adjustment in either direction.

I'm making an assumption that the Beetle will have a slight rear bias on a loose surface based on the weight distribution. Given this assumption, it might make sense to just limit the rear pressure for balance. I'd like to hear from people with experience though.

I have a single valve on my car on the FRONT brakes. I also removed the restrictor fromt eh rear circuit to improve pressure to the rear . My car was prone to locking the fronts up so I used the adjustable to reduce fronts untill I got it doing what i wanted it to do and havent touched it since .

Thanks Ricky. That's exactly what I expected to hear from some people.
