  • Clutch Master Cylinder help

    It looks like I have to replace my clutch master cylinder. This is most likely the root of my clutch problems.

    Questions is ... should I go back with an OEM master cylinder or upgrade to a Wilwood or similar? I haven't found a bolt on replacement, so I'd have to go with a universal replacement. Wilwood has a very affordable universal replacement that looks like it will work ... I just have to do some measuring and likely modification to make it mate to the pedal assembly.

    What do you guys think?

    This is the pedal side of the Evo master cylinder. Just a threaded rod with 2 nuts for adjustment.



    This is the kit that I'm looking at ... 3/4" seems to be the correct size.



    The Evo master cylinder is also a 2 bolt setup, and since this is a remote reservoir kit it doesn't have to mount perfectly vertical. If the bolt holes don't line up I could likely make an adapter plate and rotate it 90º to clear and mount. It just has to fit in the space I have.

    Unless the OEM part is a known problem I would go back with it.

      According to SPEC it is a known problem. I was told that the seals are weak and can fail with the added pressure of an upgraded PP.

      I know that the Evo X guys actually use my master cylinder as an upgrade though.

      I'm torn. I have to take the master cylinder out and replace it either way and if I can upgrade I think I should. It's going to be a pain either way honestly.

        Is there a way to upgrade the seals for the stock one?

                Yeah, I got the Wilwood. It's not the one linked ... it's a short version but still has the remote reservoir. Got to remove the stock one to find out how I can make it work. Trying to avoid making an adapter.
