  • Where can I find info about RallyX Prep

Was just wondering what I can and cannot do to my RallyX Car. What class my DSM falls into and what mods I can do, what mods I can't do, what kind of wheels and tires I can run etc.

Allright by my best understanding of these rules I can Run my talon in the the Rally Prepared category with the following mods

Hard Piped Intake and Intercooler Pipes.
      After Market Blow Off Valve
      Turbo Back Exhaust
Hawk Pads and Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors
      Aftermarket Wheels
      XTD Stage 4 Clutch
      DSM Link Modified ECU

Thats all the stuff I currently have for it.

I also have a Transmission rebuilt by Shepard racing. I Think it has the Evo 3 1st gear. Is this legal?

Would I be able to use and JDM Parts? I know there are better flowing OEM parts such as throttle body elbow, throttle body, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, O2 Sensor Housing. Would any of that stuff be legal? What about Bigger Injectors as long as they are OEM?

Also have 1 question about my Eclipse. I am planning on doing a engine swap from a 7 bolt flywheel 4g63T to a 6 Bolt flywheel 4g63T would that be legal for SCCA Solo?

        Evo 1st gear - no
        JDM parts - no
        bigger injectors - no
        engine swap - no

With that noted, you can make changes to your car to include those things if they were available on your car - say as part of an option package. You have to include all the options that go with it though. If a 6 bolt flywheel came with a bigger turbo, power windows, power steering, cloth seats, and 6 speed transmission; you'd have to install all that. You have to do the complete conversion on your car to make it as the factory made it as delivered to the US.

I play in Prepared Rear Wheel Drive. Personally I don't care what folks do to their car. To me the best bang for your buck in this class is some sort of limited slip differential. Next would be rally tires or some sort of tire with an aggressive tread pattern. Beyond that it's all fluff to me. We're here to have some fun.

No the 6-Bolt engine came in the 89-92(Early) DSMs and is not prone to crank walk. The 7 bolt is. I am gonna do the swap and see what I can get away with. It's the same engine just more mechanically sound.

Those rules kinda screw DSM guys that own anything later a 92.

My Talon has a factory LSD.

The rules only screw people who have "modded" cars. And what i mean by that is the typical street mods that you see everyone do. My talon, although not driving currently, Is all the way in street prepared where i would get smoked by everything out there, but thats what i get for having bigger turbo, injectors, this and that. If you had a stock DSM, it would be a beast in stock class, and with the correct modifications, be a good car in prepared as well. Really go have fun, and who cares what class your car is in, because i doubt you are going to reverse mods, and I'm sure just like the AutoX guys the RallyXers are not going to throw the rulebook at you for every little thing you have done. Build it how you like it, and then go fling some mud and have fun.

There's actually some rules proposals being considered for a Street Mod class in rallycross. What kind of mods would you like to see there? I'm guessing at least bigger turbo and injectors. Tell me more.

                  Between prepared and mod, right?

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

I think in Rallycross the driver is what counts. We have a Honda Pilot ,yep a hugh 3700lb pig of a full size SUV. We have only put a magnaflow muffler on it to make it sound better. It helped the performance 0 % but we did remove seats ,interior and control the rear diff. by an elec. switch so we are moved straight to the top of the heap in 4M. We do not even have the normal street mod's most people have and are in a pretty much wide open class.Who cares, I think the driver is what counts most not the car. We are bringing a knife to a gun fight but love it and will be there everytime, put us in any class or combine them all together,we do not care.

P.S.the best driver will always win.At our last rallycross a stock Neon turned the FTD.Ron you are the MAN.

                      Next Sunday we Rallycross!
