I've got proper shim material left over from when I shimmed mine and Pat's RX7 lsd's if you need any.

Thanks Andy, I may take you up on that. Did you guys build something to hold the diff to test preload and what did you set the preload to?

I clamped them to a bench and shimmed to ~130 ft/lbs. break point. Probably a little much but it made a night/day difference at Crow Mtn: the Traqmate proved a considerable difference in acceleration off the hairpins in both speed and accel G's.

The downside is the lsd chatter in tight parking lot type maneuvers, but it's not bad. It's improving with mileage (~2500-3000 on it so far) and I'm running Redline 75w/90 which has 5% friction modifier, but you can add Ford's Friction Modifier/LSD Additive to if it needs a bit more.

I think 80-100ft/lbs. break is probably a good target for a normally-aspirated Miata.

After doing a bit more research I think I need a diff from a 86-88 non turbo car so the axles will lock in.
