If you have a M (or SA) 2005 sitting around that you don't need, I could use one. I'm just looking for cheap, like less than $100. If you know of a good place to buy one new for that price is, that'd work too. My M95 isn't good for TT and is probably about to age out of autox, so I think I should start looking. Thanks.

unless you ride a bike, i recomend an open face. you can get a new g-force for $10 more than you are wanting to pay for a used helmet.
Auto racing and karting suits, shoes, gloves, underwear, helmets, seats, harnesses, accessories; OMP, Bell, Alpinestars, Sparco, Stilo, Arai, G-Force, and more.
try ebay also.

I agree with the open face being better for auto-x and TT. I've used the loaners and they are more comfortable and have a larger viewing area, not to mention the safety aspect when it comes to airbags.
However, they don't look as cool as full face ...Matt W.

John, I was referring to Waflet's comment ... but good clarification.
FWIW, I got my Pyrotect M2005 rated helmet fro around $80 new w/ a bag. Just look around online and you can find deals. you can also find lots of clearance M/SA 2000 helmets since the 2010 certifications are about to come out.
Maybe get a cheap M95 and upgrade to a SA2005 in '10 when they go on sale.Matt W.

The thing is, any 2000 helmets won't be allowed in TT in about a year. My M95 is great for now; I'm just looking at what's next. I'm only an autocrosser now, but would like to expand. I'm looking at my bank account and that PDX, as it seems to be the next step. Correct me if I'm wrong about the following: Anything that requires an SA helmet also requires a roll cage (and therefore a dedicated car), so I'll be spending a LOT of money before I have to worry about that. Therefore, I just need an M2005 and I'll be set for a while. What are the odds someone would loan me a helmet for the few TT I do in the next year before the 2005s get cheap? Does someone rent them?Erik B.

I'm with Steve.
Skip a few burgers or movies and buy a new SA Helmet. Impacts are impacts and the danger is the same either by your lonesome or in mixed traffic. SA helmets are tested for flammabiliy and multiple, repeated and concentrated impacts (roll bar/cage/door support/roof pillars, etc.) and much more. M helmets are not.
A G-Force GF750 SA is less than $150.00 and can be found for less with free shipping.
