  • Help Me Looking for a ring gap tool

I need to gap the rings for the Beetle and the old school method of hand filing doesn't agree with the coating on them. I'm looking to use a standard ring gap grinding tool. If I could borrow one for a day that would be ideal, but I can also remove the cylinders (handy, huh?) and bring them to someone if anyone is willing to help.

Please let me know. I've been looking for some help for about a week now and am rapidly approaching a place where I can not move forward without this done.

    Thanks for the help!

I have an electric grinder with a diamond wheel and dial indicator...bring a piston/jug with two wrist pins and all your rings and we can do it in about an hour. Chuck 655-4932

Chuck, I appreciate it, but I gave up hope shortly after posting this and ordered a manual filing tool. It will be here today. Thanks for the offer.

Return it and go see Chuck. That set up he has does some precise cutting.
