Yeah, 2015 models will be available at the end of October, but there is usually a price premium for the latest spec. However, these 2010s are a great deal and will be valid for ten more years. Even a 2005 bought now still has 5 years of useful life remaining.
For those that may not know, for autocross and many other of our favorite activities the helmet rule is the latest Snell standard plus the previous two. The Snell ratings are updated every five years with the new ones becoming active in either October or November of the year. The current standard is 2010, so 2005 & 2000 are still allowed. Come this fall the 2015 will be the current standard, 2010 & 2005 still allowed, and 2000s will be dropped.
Btw I think this means several of our loaners will be tossed this fall.
GCR is current Snell Year minus one. When the 2015 comes out, the 2010 will be good and 2005 dropped. When the 2020 comes out effective in 2021, the 2010 will be dropped.
