  • FS (?): Boxster S

My automotive eyes are wandering again…

…making me consider selling my Boxster S. Here are the details if you know of anyone who might be in the market.

2000 Porsche Boxster S, Black/black leather. 3.2 liter flat six with a 6-speed transmission. Its got 250hp stock + a little more with an aftermarket Borla exhaust, pushing 2,850 pounds. K&N panel filter, 18" wheels/tires.

    Autocrossing
The car is a dream to drive; good power, low weight, and makes the right sounds all the way to redline. It is super-smooth on an autocross run, can be driven with the throttle, and has awesome stopping power. I run the car in SSM just because I like running with those guys; the car is legal for SS. The car has never been on a track.

    Mechanical Condition
The car is in great shape – no leaks or anything. The only component I have had to replace was the air flow sensor. The car runs like a top – starts every time with no drama.

    Exterior Condition
The car is my daily driver. It has been 100% reliable for the two years that I’ve owned it. As a daily driver, its got a few paint chips on the nose, but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a 66k mile daily driver. There is a 1” x 3” spot on the convertible lid where the previous owner painted over a blemish. I put a Boxster emblem over it + the other side to match. The electric top works great; no leaks.

    Interior Condition
Everything is in good shape inside. The airbag warning light is on (solved by a little piece of electrical tape covering it up). According to the dealer, the light is indicating the possible failure of a sensor on the passenger side seatbelt clip – nothing worth fixing, even according to the dealer.

    Consumables Condition
I’d estimate that the front tires are at 75% and the rear tires are at 50%. The oil is supposed to be changed every 15,000 miles or so; the oil was changed about 6,000 miles ago. The front brake pads have been on the car for less than 1,000 miles.

    Price
I’m looking for $15,500 for the car, which includes an extra set of 17” wheels with R-compound tires mounted. The tires are Kumhos and they’ll last the majority of another season. If someone doesn’t need the extra wheels/tires, my price is $14,900. You just won’t find this kind of performance for this price.

PM me if you know of anyone who might be interested.

The car is awesome. It is actually hard to drive it hard enough to get it out of shape. I managed once, but if you want a car that...is linked into your brain and knows what to do before you do then this is the one for you.

I've had the pleasure of beating on several Boxsters over the years and the biggest thing that always blew my mind was how smooth they feel. You make a run and think, yeah that was OK the car did everything I asked it to do but it wasn't mind numbingly quick. Then you see the time and think how is that even possible? Very Very nice cars and I know this one has been taken care of.
