Hey guys, been a really long time. I bought this M3 about a year and a half ago hoping to have the time to autocross or rallycross it. Unfortunately having one kid and a wife that works every 4th weekend plus a million other things has kept me away. Now we are 4 weeks away from having our second kid and I just don't think I'm going to have time to have any fun with this car.
Overview:
Almost 200k miles
5 Speed
4 door sedan
Black
Grey interior
BC Racing coilovers/ camber plates
New tires on the rear, fronts are good
A/C works great
All power functions work
Comes with an extra set of Stock wheels DSII (rear tires have some life, fronts have cords showing inside
What it needs:
Rtabs
RR wheel bearing has started making low speed rumbles
windshield has cracks in it
Power steering leak fix (replaced all the crush washers, so it doesn't leak near as much as it used to)
Fix whatever is causing the hesitation issue (see below)
This is the only e36 M3 I've driven, but this one seems pretty solid. Brakes are good, shocks are good, rides firm but not too harsh (if you want harsh it comes with really stiff springs too). Doesn't leak or burn any fluids other than power steering. I bought this vehicle in Miss with a rebuilt title, since transferring it to Alabama it doesn't seem to have anything indicating rebuilt or salvage on the title. Car fax shows a wreck happening a couple years ago, it more than likely hit something with the right rear wheel as I had to replace a bent lower control arm and the top shock mount has been welded. Also the rear taillights look a little crooked. Car tracks great, and I've done a garage alignment and nothing seems out of whack. Interior is in ok shape depending what your standards are. headliner is sagging in the middle.
Engine runs and idles great except it has this hesitation problem at full throttle that happens somewhat consistently around 3-5000rpm. I've tried replacing a bunch of things - maf (used), front O2s, intake gasket, ccv valve. I can't figure it out. CEL is on for maf and o2s being out of range (comes with the scanner). When you disconnect the Maf it actually gets rid of the problem, however it won't idle very good until it warms up for a minute or so, and even then it will die sometimes slowing down for a red light.
Other things I can think of off the top of my head:
Sometimes the ABS/Traction control light comes on
Airbag light is on b/c I had the driver's seat out to replace the reclining gear
Front left headlight could use replacing b/c the glass rattle out
Bonus Autocross items:
Full set of staggered stock m3 wheels - DSII style
Full set of much stiffer springs - would be great for autocross or track day
Wheels spacers for the rear - probably 0.5 in
Here is a link to the craigslist ad
It is in Tuscaloosa (Northport). I might have my parents drive it to B'ham next weekend if there is enough interest.
Thanks,
Matt Blackwood
