  • Hoosier A6 R compounds for sale

Set of six 245-45-16 A6 with 4 with 1/2 tread or better and the other 2 with grooves and good tread per tread indicators (great for rear tires on FWD). These are almost $300 per tire shipped new (almost $1800). I have gone to Street tires and these have been stored in climate controlled dark basement. Will sell for $400 for all 6. I used these last at Dixie Tour this year. I will also provide stickers so you can be as fast as the yellow CSP Miata with sticker Hoosiers. Thanks

There's a guy on Bimmerforums that sells take offs. He had 17" A6 for $100 per tire plus shipping. He said they had 75% tread left. He has a lot of continental slicks and he's always posting more. I'd check there if you really want some.

Be careful before buying the Conti slicks. There are several different compounds that are used, and they are vastly different. Not sure what car you will be driving, or what size rim you will be using, but assuming you will be on the 275/17 you will want to be on the lookout for the EC-GS-I compound. This is the Endurace Compound for the GS class, and I is the designation for the softest compound available, as of the 2012 and 2013 seasons. They can always change their mind later and change the compound designation, but they will generally make it known they are doing that.

You can be highly disappointed in a tire if you end up buying Conti's and then find out you have different compounds, or you have the EC-GS or EC-DR compounds which are the harder compounds. Most track guys that I have seen try to go with the EC-DR compound because they are the most widely available as a takeoff (used) tire. I have seen many EC-GS tires as well, and most people that I have talked to with these tires don't think they grip worth a damn, and might not know the difference in the tire compounds exist.
FWIW, the Turner Motorsports BMW M3 GS car this past year worked best on the GS-I tire, a slip of the tongue on TV and the internet by Will Turner enlightened everyone. The M3 in GS form is 3300 lbs, v8 FR with independent pivot coilovers in the front and 5 link with coilovers in the rear, and runs on an 18x10 with 275's.
I've owned a few sets of the Hoosier/Contis that were take-offs. Not sure of the difference in compound from the ones I had to the new generation, but at an autocross the GT compound takes a hot day, two driver car atleast 2 runs per person to show grip. However, there was an XP BMW that came earlier this year that seemed to have grip from the start of the day, and was on the Conti slicks, not sure of the compound.
