If you don’t have ADD and are still with me, this has been my autocross (primary) and track toy (occasional) for the last 6 years. It’s prepped to SCCA CSP solo class rules. Although it’s not 100% full tilt boogey, it’s not far from it. The main changes to be full tilt boogey would be 10” wheels, aero package, and a rules spec built motor. This is a very fast and very capable autocross car. As is, it’s been to about every region within a day’s drive from the MS coast and several national tours in the South East. It has obtained multiple class wins, FTD’s, top PAX’s, and many times all three at once, and at multiple regions. It earned me driver of the year in my local region a couple years ago. On my trips to national tours, I typically am fast enough to be slightly ahead of mid pack, but right behind the aliens, several times snagging the last trophy spot.

For the last year my focus shifted more to doing track time trials. I added a roll bar, hardtop, seat brace, fire bottle, etc to the car to do time trails. It passes tech with both NASA and SCCA and I have a current SCCA log book for the car. With NASA it runs in the Time Trial D class (TTD). The car was dyno reclassed to TTE** (+14 points) with that and all modifications on 225 hankook C71’s it has 36 points into TTD.

This car is very fast and very capable both in solo and on track. It dyno’d 147 SAE corrected WHP, but that was on the OEM 55mm throttle, and a full racing beat exhaust. Since then I have went to a 65mm TB and a short exhaust with a turndown. I am very confident it is making over 150whp currently. And it weights just under 2000lbs, about 2100lbs with the bar and hardtop installed. I took it to the drag strip once just out of curiosity. In my 5 passes I managed a best of 14.766 @ 95.32. I might be able to do better with more practice. I am not a drag racer, and -2.4 degrees of rear camber didn’t help launching.

    Issues with the car
    1) It’s been a track and AX car, not a show car. So it’s got cone rash in a few spots, rock chips, a couple dings from me removing the hardtop by myself, a small dent on the pass (IIRC) fender from the jack handle popping it, etc. The fender lips are rolled in the rear and rolled and pulled in the front to clear 275’s. other than that the paint is still very glossy. It’s been in a garaged all of its life it spent with me (except Sundays). And the hardtop is really faded; it could stand a fresh spray.
    2) The car runs awesome! And it idles, but not so awesome, especially when the motor is cold. This is due to the 65mm mustang throttle not having an idle air control valve. You gotta give it a little foot action to keep it running if it’s cold. This is not a problem when driving, only when puttering around grid, or street driving when stopping at lights and signs. Once it’s warmed up it’s not as bad, but still idles low. This might be able to be remedied with more tuning. Or you could add an IACV or go back to the Miata TB with IACV if it bothers you.
    3) Current odometer reading is ~ 147k. However the speedo stopped working about 6 months ago. But I don’t daily drive this car. I can probably look at how many events I have done since then and give you an accurate number. My guess is still under 150k total. (~ 75k on motor)

    Some of its credentials:
I am not the best driver in the world, nor have I had the biggest budget. So it’s a modest list. But it is something. And I have had a blast making the list.
2008 3rd place CSP SCCA Dixie National Tour
2009 1 spot out of trophies CSP SCCA Dixie National Tour (big class)
2009 3rd place CSP SCCA Houston National Tour
2009 Gulf Coast Region SCCA Driver of the year
(2010-2012 I co drove a few tours and started getting into more track stuff)
2012 1st place CSP AL/TVR SCCA Spring Time Trials at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway

If you’re familiar with these tracks
No Problem Raceway 1:27.68 on street tires
NOLA motorsports park North short course 1:26.32
Talladega Gran Prix Raceway (little tally) 1:08’s
The latter is faster that both the current official TTD and CSP track records, but was done at an open track day, nothing official, video of it below.

I have tons of pictures of the car. Shoot me an email and I will send em. And just so you know, it has had many stickers on it. I have recently destickered it and will clean it up and post some pictures after this weekend. A couple of the stickers on the driver side were stubborn and I can’t get all the goo off. If you know some tricks perhaps you can do better than me at goo removal.

I am asking $8000 for the car. Do the math and add it all up. That’s a really good deal!
This would make a great ready to go track car or AX car. If you want to jump into a fun and capable track car that’s competitive and ready to go, this is it. If you want a fast and competitive solo car, pull the TT safety gear and you can go do really well in CSP. Add 10” wheels and aero and go win nationally. Put a full exhaust and IACV on it and make it a street car and/or dual purpose toy, or add a turbo or supercharger and make it a beast. Lots of potential here!

Oh and I have a lot of spare parts that will go with it. Already mentioned it has TWO sets of 15x9 wheels, one with new 225 hankook race tires and one with 225 hankook “cheater streets”, and a set of very fresh 275 R6’s. That’s 12 tires! I have a rear trunk lid with a 8” tall CSP style spoiler, a 4.3 diff (open just swap torsen), a 6 speed tranny, a 97 motor if you want it, several intake manifolds, a VVT head, lots of little Miata knick knacks a whole work bench of stuff on and under it. It all goes to the buyer. I also have a transponder in the car, if you want it; I can add that for an extra $300, otherwise I will hang on to it. I might consider selling some of the wheels and tires separate if that’s what it takes to move the car, but I would like to keep everything together for the potential buyer without parting out for now.

If you’re interested please send me an email to trigger dot eric at gmail dot com I will try to check it as often as possible and respond quickly. Also note I plan to list this in several places. So email is probably a better way to get me than a PM. Plus those itty bitty inboxes fill up fast. And my cell is (2 two eight) two one 9 – 7 zero 8 nine. Sorry for the funky encrypting, too bad it’s needed.

I remember this car from the TT at TGPR this season. It was quite a quick little Miata. Good luck!
