It was great fun watching Mike move up through the field. First time by, already one up from starting position. Next time by, another 3 or 4 spots. Then more. After a few laps, we got out the stopwatch. For a while he was 18 seconds back from the leader, then, as the leader got into lapped traffic, it was 17, then 15, then 12, etc. until he was 5 seconds back. Then there was a big wreck and a blown engine, and the race was over early. A great finish to a first weekend for a new team in a used GT1 car.

BTW, Jimmy, was that your car I saw parked up near the bridge?

I wish it was Chuck, but no. My off days have changed at work and no weekends off right now.

Why did he have to start in the back?

Split a wheel and lost tire pressure on his first qualifying lap. He almost went off at 1, and made it around to the cut through at 5 to wait out the session. He was listed in the top half of the field during practice, on old tires. They only brought one set of new tires for the weekend (a real privateer outfit, for now.)
