The ti-pod was destroyed, the light still worked. Luckily for some ones wallet.

Tripod implementation reasoning verified!
Rod, don't feel bad ... ask Mark about the timing lights and the little red car. I think it may have been the Kilgore's first event with us.Matt W.

I was the one who hit the lights, and luckily it was the inexpensive side. It was also wet that day, and we were at the bad end of the BRC lot. That was the last year of our time at BRC, and I think maybe the second year of participating full time with SCCA Solo for me.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Oh, i don't feel bad. It's just that the title of this thread makes it seems like it wasn't a big deal that our autocrosses almost came to a end until an expensive timing system could be replaced. We don't want to come across like it wasn't a potentially expensive mistake, for the entrant as well as the club.Rod H

It might be a good time to remind entrants that they are responsible for damages to club equipment. The big one being that timing light. Some like to claim they didn't know of their responsibilities when bad things happen so we need to remind them. Not being an ass or anything just looking out for our stuff.John W8

I think I'm remembering something different ... I personally walked across the BRC lot to pick up the timing light that was knocked off of the metal stand. It was a good 20 yards from the finish. Pop had to repair the stand after that because it was too bent to stand on its own.Originally posted by kilgojr View PostI was the one who hit the lights, and luckily it was the inexpensive side. I am pretty sure that when I hit the reflector we were still using the crates to set up the lights. I had a good dent and big scratch down the side of the car from it.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

From the video it looks like it was literally on the finish cone, which whoever set that up should know that's a big no-no.Originally posted by slowautoxr View PostWas that light not really close to the course?M. Cholewa

It does look like it was close to the finish cone. We need to do a better job with checking the placement. The reflector was a good 3-4 feet away from the finish cones. We need to have them swapped with the reflector close and the timing light further away if we can't have them both as far away as possible.Last edited by e30Racer; 06-09-2013, 12:33 AM.Mark K

I set the lights up. Unfortunately, because we are using the "wireless system" wired now, we have to have the expensive portion on the inside near the trailer. The lights were 5 feet away from the cone and on the "backside" of the finish cone.
When its wet things happen, you can't account for everything.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Sounds like it would be worth it to again look in to an upgraded antenna setup for the lights. We tossed around an idea for a fixed antenna on the exterior of the trailer.Matt W.
