  • TAC/TVR Solo Sunday Sept23. ProClass

Here's a couple of vids from Sundays TAC/TVR Autocross event held in Huntsville at John Hunt Park. Cheryl ran the event and Brandon Davis did the course, his first, and it was a blast. Third gear for a long ways. 70mph lane changes are awesome!! Great event, fantastic weather and big crowd. If you ever wondered about traveling to autocross, I suggest heading up North for a good, fast time.

I was top 5 in raw time on 'kooks and 13th in PAX. That netted 5th in the pro class.
    PAX makes me ill.

I assume the pax numbers are based on the idea that if you run CSP you must also run R-comps everywhere. When one decides to save the r-comps and run a street tire that you are simply out of luck if competing in a PAX class. Is there no modifier for r-comp classes running a street tire? Just curious. I had fun in Huntsville and was somewhat competitive but I would have had to been 2-3 seconds faster than Sparky to be close to a PAX win. Without the R-comps my car is just a 140hp Miata with multi adjustable suspension competing against Mikes 170hp MX5 with multi adjustable suspension and Sparky's 220hp(?) RX8 with multi adjustable suspension on the same brand tire. In that sense PAX is annoying.

Just something I was thinking about driving home last night.

I've read one region tried a second, additional factor (0.975) for cars that could run r-comps but ran street tires instead, with cars using the right tires for the class getting 1.00.

For instance, a CSP car on r-comps would be

raw time * pax modifier * 1 = adjusted time

but a CSP car on street tires would be

raw time * pax modifier * 0.975 = adjusted time.

That was a course of firsts for me - first time to get to third gear twice, longest extended use of third gear, first time to go from third to first on a feature.

Nice times from you John, you were way up there with a bunch of cars that had lots more power and tire.

Oh, and I hate that bump too. I keep hitting it expecting the front of the car to break on that corner.

Couldn't you run TCSP? You couldn't run both XCSP and TCSP though.

Yes, I could run TCSP but there were no other entrants for TCSP. I wanted to compete with a group and the Pro class in Huntsville is a pretty strong class.

I think I have the letters for TCSPX but the cone calls would be hard to relay.
