Nick's helmetcam videos motivated me to share. Here are links to the video of my 44.1 second run. This was my first run in group 2's afternoon runs. I overcooked the slalom just past corner station 1 on my 5th & 6th runs in desperate attempts to get to the 43s.

Sorry for the wind noise...I can never remember to try some foam over the mic as a windscreen

Awesome! Very nice run. The GoPro cameras are awesome for no wind noise...you should look into em

the face made with the vents, hazard button, and trim of the radio kind of freaks me out.

Yeah, but the gopros are significantly more expensive than my camera (got two HD cameras for less than a gopro) and I am not a fan of their ultrawide format. I like something that gives a field of view more similar to what someone in the car would see. I'll settle for wind noise until I either try a windscreen or simply mute the audio

All that said, the gopro would be much more tempting for me if I didn't have a rollbar to use as a mount. The only real advantage gopro has, and it is a big one, is their mounts.

Maybe you could add some foam near the mic input to help filter out some of that noise?

I meant to just put some scotch tape over mine before the last event and forgot. Sound waves can penetrate a solid surface, but different solid materials will act as sort of a mechanical crossover and completely block some frequencies and let others pass. Foam does the same thing but mainly attempts to break up actual pressure waves from directly hitting the mic and causing "noise" while minimizing the crossover effect of the natural audio frequencies.

For me tape would likely be fine. Low frequencies will pass through pretty easily but I'l likely lose some midrange. Acceptable for me as my external audio is nearly completely unusable now.

Good idea Matt. Perhaps I'll try tape next time. After all, it's not like painter's tape is hard to come by at an event.
