    BMW question

    Hey, I found these pics on my phone and was curious if anyone knew what it was. It came into the shop a few years ago for an oil change, and just for fun, I looked at it on kbb.com and it was still worth $53,000.

    Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
    Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

      Not an M1...that's an 8-series. 840 was a v8, so this one looks to be an 850 12cyl.

              the car would be called a BMW 850i or 850Ci depending on what year it was. Its a V12 engine.

                  It's an 850Ci. The motor is an M73B54. It's a 5.4L v12 w/ 322 hp.

                  The car is also known as a nightmare. It's not worth anywhere close to 53k. I could pretty easily find someone willing to dump there 850 on you for under 10k. You can find an 840 under 5k, especially if it needs new batteries.

                  Now, if it were an 850CSi you would have something.

                    Oops. The motor is an M70B50. It is a 5.0L v12 w/ 295hp.

                    Just read the '93 part. I was thinking it was ~'95.

                      Well you finally got it, and it is a CSi

                      I thought this would be a fun thing to kinda cover the gap between the events. It came into the shop bout 2008 or so and I've had the pics on my phone forever. Just thought it would be interesting.

                        Sorry, but regardless of what the badge says that is not a CSi. The CSi would have a S70B54, which the posted car does not. Of note the 850CSi has the only V12 built by "M".
