  • AquaX #7- some pix

Well, my camera is not the sportiest, and it was raining, and I'm not really a photog, but I did get some pix. I didn't post the only pic of Matt Williams car b/c it was very blurred- hey, maybe that's because it was FTD !!! Sorry, man. But I did get Katie.

I up-dated the AutoX page1 and page4 on the new website, alscca.net. Enjoy

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection ...... again.

Are there raw photos in a useful size hosted somewhere? They're nice on the site but tiny and cropped.

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

Yes, I am the cropper; possibly the crappiest cropper but none-the-less ....
All of the website pix need to be something like 1.75:1, and I have to crop to be able to actually see anything after that process. My camera was on full zoom and still can't really see much. And after all that the pix are "flattened" onto an "image" for the website. Sorry, but that is the current process. We are working to change that too.

I will try to post them "live" somewhere and let you know. I'm just not up to speed on this and my pix have never been in demand!

If you go to imageshack.us and click on the browse button, (then find where the pics are on your computer) select the pics you want ....then click OPEN, back on the imageshack page click on the dragdown menu under "Image resize" and select "Do Not Resize" then under that there is a "Add Label to Thumbnail?" select "No".

Then click the big blue upload now button...and wait a bit while it uploads the piture(s) you selected....loook once they are uploaded to where it says "Direct Link" and copy that (it will look something like this: http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8140/1000133h.jpg )and paste it here.....if there are multiple pics there will be a window with a bunch of links...just copy them all.

Or if you have a gmail account you can set up a Picasa page in like 2 seconds. The accounts are linked since it's all Google. Like most Google stuff, it's all self explanatory and user friendly.

Thanks, guys. I will follow one of these solutions, hopefully tonight. It's good to have options; even better to have solutions!

Thanks for the intro to Picasa guys. I guess this is how to do it! Most pix shot from station 5. The camera was so slow I would shoot at the turn-a-round and it would "take" half way up the hill.

It sure was nice of John and Darryl to get the waiver girl for the event. She was like a one person welcoming committee! Did ya'll like her? Was she easy to work with?

I trust you'll let me know if this link doesn't work- right? ENJOY

Thanks! There are some cool rain shots in there.

RWD cars are slow in the rain

                      Ahem.

From all Street Touring class (ST & STR) times from the morning runs in the rain:
Fastest Touring run: Rod Hardiman, 49.083, Miata (RWD)
2nd: Mike Cavanaugh, 49.092, Miata (RWD)
Best of the rest: Erik B, 49.414, Focus (FWD)

                      ========================================
                      edit:
                      Ahem, ahem...

I was curious, so some more quick data mining of all the morning runs gave me this:

                      Rainmeister: Sara (AWD)
                      2nd: Matt (AWD)
                      3rd: Lyle (RWD)
                      4th: W8 (RWD)
                      5th: Chris (AWD)
6th: David Scott (?? don't know what 7 DM was, no car listed)
                      7th: Vince (RWD)
                      8th: Mark Kilgore (RWD)
                      9th: Me (RWD)
                      10th: Mike C (RWD)

So, maybe 1 FWD in the top ten depending on what David was driving. I always suspected FWD was unnatural. Now we know!

Sorry Erik, but you brought it up!

Only a rear-engine RWD car can perform the kind of magic we saw at the turn around pin cone in the morning.

10 of the 10 cars you mentioned are in classes higher than ST.
What other classes did we have that mixed front and rear drive? I checked, and there are none. Plus, pictures don't lie. See how slow Casey looks? That's proof.

I was just observing that I had won the ST hydrocross and the difficult course, but then some large clumsy cars complained that they "couldn't" turn around in the half acre they had to make a U-turn, so a power-favoring sweeper was added, and the rain was cancelled for the afternoon. We might as well just start with a 4 cone 'vette course and save the trouble of having to learn what line is fastest for your vehicle.
