Okay, so it won't be a great run to watch, but this link will take you to Ben's last run, which was also the last run of the event. For those who don't know, Ben is my youngest son, now 15, and has been driving for about 6 weeks with just limited practice with a manual. He was so nervous at start for his first run that his left leg was shaking violently and I actually wondered if he would be able to keep the clutch depressed . The deluges that graced our group's runs didn't particularly help. I wish I had video from those but my camera won't fit the mount with the soft top up.

Gotta hand it to him though, his confidence went up quickly. We shared the Miata and our first runs were 13 seconds apart (and before someone says it, yes I was faster ). He made a big improvement on just his second run and we ended up about 6 seconds apart (not counting his cones). He even pushed hard enough to get the rear a little squirrelly in the fast section before the "stop box"

Not sure where the sound went when I made the video, but once the car starts moving it would just been wind noise anyway

And before I forget, I big thanks to John Kilgore for helping us out getting from grid to start. It would have been extremely frustrating if Ben would have had to line up going up the hill to start.

Congrats to him for his first time. That was a pretty smooth looking run. Im sure there was some anxiety. With a lil experience, Im sure he will be giving you a run for your money Rod.

It is only a matter of time for sure. My oldest would have gotten me earlier this year in Huntsville, both driving his car, but he collected a cone at the end of the run.

That's a good looking run. I love the 5K drop at the start line, no hesitation there. It was fun watching Ben start down at the bottom of the hill, reminded me of learning to drive a manual trans for the first time. I hope that he had a good time. We can put him in an e30 whenever he wants.

O yeah, it's coming- trust me! But man it's fun with your sons and daughters. Great bonding.

CONGRATS BEN!!! Good show for first time out. Make your dad let you practice on the computer. It's almost as much fun and a great teacher.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection ...... again.
