  • Crash boom bang = car shopping

Hi yall, no I didn't wreck my 911. I had a nasty wreck in my husband's 98 Camry today. It is TOAST. I'll give yall the gory details another time but suffice it to say nobody was hurt and everything's gonna be alright.

Hubby has already worked out the settlement with the insurance, so we will only have the insurance-provided rental for three days. That means we have to go car shopping this weekend. We're looking for an older non-American SUV, like a Honda CRV, $5000 range.

So are any of yall out there in the car sales business? Got something you think would fit the bill? Suggestions as to dealers you've worked with in the Bham area who will give us a good deal? I've put out the word to a car seller friend in Tuscaloosa, and we'll drive back down there to deal if we have to. But now that we're in Bham, it'd be easier to buy up here.

    Suggestions welcome.

Oh, it's _your_ turn now. Glad everybody's OK. Good luck in the car search. At least you won't be driving to St. Pete to buy a car, like somebody did, the other day.

      You know what's even better than a CR-V? A Boxster S!

      Seriously, glad you're ok!

I'd look into toyota highlanders. Cool cars, great mileage/pickup, and resale. Safety isn't too shabby either.

We've seen a lot of mazda suvs in the NDCCC's and those things are beastly, not as glorious on the inside as the yota, but still a great little car for the buck.

As for people dealing in birmingham, good luck.

Welcome to Birmingham!! Keep your insurance card handy.

          Glad you're safe.

For consideration, Don Drennon Chrysler in Hoover got the letter saying they are getting cut from the Chrysler network so they have ALL their Jeeps out front at closeout pricing. Probably more than $5,000 but awesome deals are available.
