  • Mounting seats in a jeep

    Dear all,

I've got a set of seats that I found online for a pretty good price. I'd like to mount them to into my jeep on the factory seat brackets.

Never done this before and no clue how to do it. I'll check to see if, on the off chance, they just bolt in --- but would anyone with some experience doing this be willing to show me the ropes?

My brother and I made custom seat brackets for both of our sets in the BMW's. It's not hard at all, can do it in a weekend no problem!

What kind of seats are they? That would help in knowing how tough they are going to be to mount.

if you're not partial to your old seats, cut off the old mounts, clean em up, and have someone weld them onto your new seats. Or go gangsta volvo style and use JB weld and zipties.

I have a jeep a wrangler with oem fold and tumble seats.

The new seats are made by recaro. they are called the recaro style.

You should be able to get some universal sliders for those seats that will bolt to the seats. Then you can cut the stock mounting points off of the stock jeep seat brackets and weld them to it. You might be able to bolt the sliders to the jeep brackets depending on how they are designed. Would have to see them to tell you any more than that.

When I did mine I welded some steel across the mounts to line up with the bottom mount holes and drilled them for bolts into the seats. I never thought twice about weather they'd hold up in a wreck.

                  Hey Jamie,
get with me and mark, we can get those seats in. I've had my Jeep for 14 years now and know all the "ins and outs" I have my welder at my house and all the tools you need, we can get those seats in there with no problem.
