I agree, a stock 302 would not be anywhere near too much. I seem to remember Lyle C. driving the crap out of a 302 powerd Mustang, you put him in a car with that much power with a the suspension of an FC and you would have a killer combination. Of course you have to be able to drive it.

Yeah a 5.0 out of a Mustang would be a good combination, but I still think it would cost more to do...Originally posted by engled View PostI agree, a stock 302 would not be anywhere near too much. Here is what I've found:
S14A SR20DET with 35,xxx ACTUAL miles
ACT Clutch/Flywheel (New)
Uncut harness, all sensors, transmission
Garrett GT2860RS Ball bearing turbo (slightly used)
Tubular S/S Exhaust manifold
Apexi Power FC Standalone with Power Commander
555 cc Injectors
Z32 Mass Air Flow Sensor
(Power FC already tuned for injectors/maf)
3" downpipe for turbo
All for 2,800 shipped to my door! Working out the details now...stay tuned!

For $2,800 bucks you should be able to buy a FC, 302, tranny, wheels, tires and win, place or show at the Grassroots Motorsports challenge with close to $800 left over. It's been done at least once.Originally posted by 87RX7RACER View PostAll for 2,800 shipped to my door! Working out the details now...stay tuned!

LOL, I don't know about that one. Your forgeting about the suspension it takes to get an FC to turn well. I'm not going to say how much money I have in my car at this point, but lets just say it's alot more than 2,800 dollars...lol. The suspension alone will run you 1,500 bucks, and that's assuming you already have all of the S5 spindles, brakes and whatnot.Originally posted by engled View PostFor $2,800 bucks you should be able to buy a FC, 302, tranny, wheels, tires and win, place or show at the Grassroots Motorsports challenge with close to $800 left over. The thought has crossed my mind on the 302 swap, but I'm looking for some decent gas mileage and I think a carb'd 302 wouldn't be much better than what I'm getting now.
I'm just waiting on some funds from uncle sam now. Hopefully I am also selling my spare S5 motor out of my parts car this week as well. Plus I have a yard full of cars that are waiting to be worked on for extra money.

I thought you would chime in eventually Ricky, yeah it is a good deal-but this guy is in the UK and evidently you can get SR motors LOCALLY for cheap. He even has a brother in Japan that can get SR motors all day long for really cheap. The market here for some reason is still pretty high for these motors. DEI in Georgia quoted me 2,200 dollars for the same motor, and that was just a stock one...Originally posted by zukitek View PostWow!!!Somebody is hurting for some cash .You go boy.

There have been several built on a budget, you just have to scrounge for deals. That is pretty much how I put my Miata together.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I can't believe they did that to a 10th Anniversary Edition though...there were only a few hundred of those made!Originally posted by engled View PostThere have been several built on a budget, you just have to scrounge for deals.
