  • Karting on Sunday 8/16

Since we aren't having a rallycross, I'm going Karting at 10 am tomorrow. Any other ALSCCA peeps wanna come drive faster than me?

It was fun. We got there at 10:30 and there was more than an hour wait already. So, if you go, prepare to wait unless it's way off peak hours.

The karts are quick. The electric power doesn't feel super weird. They have instant torque, but it's applied differently that I'd expect. To me, it kinda felt like a little bit of turbo lag while it was trying to accelerate. Because of this, you really need to drive them like a momentum car ... that's probably why Lyle is so fast ... it's just a tiny Miata.

The course is fun and technical enough. I wish it had another couple of corners and a longer straight. You don't really get a break at all. Even on the "straight," you're turning.

I ran a 25.1 if anyone is comparing. TJ gave me some tips before we went out, and I get stuck trying to do a specific line rather than trying new lines, so I didn't experiment enough to find more time.
