  • Gotham dream cars what!!!?????

I received a forwarded email from John K about the event, they needed INSTRUCTORS.

"We have an event this Friday-Sunday at Oak Mountain Amphitheater. Basically, customers can test drive either a Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo around an autocross track. We are reaching out to you at the SCCA to see if you are interested in working the event. We have a few instructor positions open, as well as a helmet person, a CD burner and a photographer. Please spread the word, and reach out to XXXXXXX"
Please noted that it say " Instructor" in the email.

We arrived at the site right at 730, which is earlier than when they told us to be there, but we wanted to meet the staffs and help with set up. Only to be greeted by NO ONE. Their staffs arrived shortly after 8 AM and their personality and attitude were poor at best. one of the 3 main staff went over the car with us and explained to us about the do and don't for the event, one of it was " absolutely no tire spin" and if the customers hit any cones, we are to stop and do a walk around to see if there's any damage to the car, I was also told to tell customer to not free rev the car or its coming out of my paycheck . The 430 was down and we were told that it will be there later part of the day, the LP560 was in POOR condition (zip tied interior parts) and was on Conti DWS tires. YES, DWS tires which have a 540 treadwear rating aka "like a brick". They were worried about tire wear due to price. I searched and found that these tires in 295/30/19 are $1052 for a new set from TireRack. Not as expensive as exaggerated. As the day progress, the attitude of the main GDE staffs was getting worse, and worse, especially the way they handle their staff ( including us) several points in the day we looked at each other and said " we need to not be here and be a part of this anymore". We were also told that the car was a rental, so not even truly part of their "fleet". We were told to tell the customers to leave the car in auto and if they get in manual mode to leave it in 2nd and do NOT downshift to 1st due to wear and tear on the car. In other words don't rev the v10 like the site advertises you will get to.

later on in the evening when the 430 arrived, it sat and idle beside their trailer without the bumper for over 2 hours, yes I said without the front bumper/airdam. They took it out on course and we noticed fluids pouring out from the rear diffuser area, me and Heath both looked and told one of their staff that the 430 is leaking fluids and was told " neh its was smoke from the diffuser hitting the tires" after 2 more rounds on course we told them again its leaking fluids!!! so he finally went over the course and sure enough it was FUEL, yes...fuel leak in close proximity to the hot exhaust. They pulled it in and attempted to fix it, went out, fuel still leaking, pulled it back it, played it with it some more AND put customer in the car. At this point start looking around for fire bottle which I didn't find. YEP.

Overall, the event was done poorly, at several time thru the day we ( me and Heath) were asked by several customers/ their family members to please get in the car with them because the other guy would just sit there and not do anything while " instructing". Id have been VERY upset to pay the kind of $$$ charged and not get what I paid for or advertised. The condition of their vehicles were VERY VERY poor the 430 did not have the front bumper/airdam on because " I don't want anyone to wreck an 18k carbon front bumper!!!" they PAID to drive the race car didn't they????, the staff mechanical knowledge were also poor and the level of arrogance were PLENTYFUL. Illl be posting this on the SCCA forum and forewarned ANYONE thinking about participating in the " SCAM" to stay away. Also needless to say WE DID NOT go back to HELP today. C

I remember seeing that in a Groupon email and laughing at the description.

C said it all. I would have been highly upset if I was a customer. I was very upset as a worker. The website description is far from the actual experience. I felt bad as a guest instructor. I almost felt the need to apologize to the customers honestly for paying such a non professional organization. Just plain disrespectful. One of the crew members was cool. Very helpful and professional. The others, not so much. Arrogant doesn't even begin to describe it. To act so richy rich they were far too worried about a set of $1000 SNOW tires. Don't dare put the front bumper on the Ferrari . And yeah it was leaking FUEL the last time you drove it 5 minutes ago, beside a HOT exhaust….. sure throw a customer in there…. wow. It's hard to describe how bad the experience truly was. Lesson learned. Never associate yourself with this event. I was making it a point to let the customers know I was in no way a part of the company and had no say so in the way the event was managed. We made it a point to be sure nobody thought we were a part of it today by simply not going. I would discourage anyone from taking part as a customer or worker. You'll be treated like an incompetent poor man. To beat it all he was shocked when we said we wouldn't be coming back on Sunday….geez lol.

Did you tell any of the management there these feelings in a similar manner that you have posted about them here?

          Absolutely.

I let them know we felt disrespected and informed the one guy we really appreciated him but couldn't tolerate the others for another day. We were professional in letting them know why we wouldn't return. Didn't want to stoop down. It got difficult not to, tongue was bleeding.

I thought I saw you guys out there on Saturday. I drove by and laughed at the "course" and figured the drivers probably were boxed in so much that they couldn't enjoy the car as it was intended.

              I'm glad you guys survived.

Yep, it was pitiful, a waste of time and money on our part and the customers. C
