  • Track Day Questions

I've tried to host TGPR track days twice in the last couple months, and people avoided entering in droves.

I'm trying to analyze the reasons for the lack of entries.

Is Monday a terrible day? Would a Friday be better?

If Mondays and Fridays don't work for you, would you pay a significantly higher entry fee for Saturday or Sunday? (Close to $250 for a couple hours of track time - still pretty cheap, but a lot more than the Monday price.)

Is this just a bad (busy?) time of year for track days? I had fair success in January, but not so much, lately.

Thanks, in advance, for your feedback.

For me, there's just no time. I'm out of town pretty consistently til November.

The biggest reason that turned me away is the fact that the last time I did a Monday track day at TGPR, I paid $100 flat for it, with 15 or so drivers, and we all had enough track time we quit and went home before we were out of scheduled time. The $170 you were charging was a fair bit higher, so that deterred myself. I can't speak for others.

Furthering with my own speculation, it could just be that we're in prime time summer where it's pretty hot, and also there's many beach trips and family vacations happening right now, so there could be greater driver availability later in the year.

Both of the dates you tried were too close to other events for me to consider, but I realize that there isn't much you can do about the scheduling challenges. Additionally I just don't have enough tire budget to chew up a set at TGPR with two time trials coming later in the year.

          Chuck, Here are my comments

-The $170 cost was a bit high in comparison to other TGPR weekday session I've seen and done. I know you were offering photo services but that wasn't something I was looking for.
-Friday is a better day but doesn't mean Monday's are impossible.
-You might consider posting on the ATL SCCA site, if you did I must have missed that.

We are looking for test days coming up in the next 3-6 weeks so if you do put something out there we might be able to join.

Thanks for trying to put it together.
