Hey everyone -
Last night, a good samaritan brought a dog in to our clinic last night who had been hit by a car in front of their house. The dog is a female shih-tzu, 12 lbs, looks to be around 2-3 years old, had mild head trauma and an injury to her mouth. I fixed the injury and she seems to have recovered from the head trauma. She is VERY sweet, very quiet, would make a great house/ lap dog. At our clinic, our good samaritan policy is that we keep the dog for 72 hours to allow an owner to come claim them. After that, we have to send them to the shelter unless a home is found for them. If there is interest within 72 hours, I am allowed to "take responsibility for her" and we can keep her in the clinic for up to 3 weeks. I worry that the shelter would euthanize her because of her injuries. If someone wants her, I can treat her, spay her, and vaccinate her and I would cover the costs. She has no microchip and no identifying information. I have pictures of her. Please let me know if you or anyone you know would like a really nice house dog. Thanks everyone!
