  • Afternoon ride at Barber - video

I went out to Barber today where the Porsche Sport Driving School had a weekend class, and I joined them at the very end for a hot lap ride - a couple actually. Woohoo it was great! Just what I needed Here's a video I made of my rides:

Sorry I had the wrong link there first...fixed now!

watching that made me realize just how good Barber is in the sims. It's damn near dead on. That looked like fun.

Once I got that *&(^ set up, I ran it an hour before I went out. And I just closed it down again for tonight. I need to come by and get your help setting up Road Atlanta But anyway I thought the same thing, that they've got Barber pretty well in the sims. That said, THE REAL THING rocks. It was fun!

And also, cold. Very cold. But mostly fun!

I know! He gave us an awesome ride! I was in that car with a couple of fuddy-duddies. It was SILENT the whole time (except when I accidentally hit the window-down switch while reaching for the door grip to HOLD ON). The Cayenne is pretty amazing - handles like a sports car in every way. Cornering is a-mazing! And the sound of the V-8 turbo at launch is really sweet!

But as a passenger, I don't really care for all that room in the back for getting tossed around! I've sat up front in the past, that's a little better because you have the console & slanted floorboard to brace against. It's just freaky to be in the back of an "SUV" at race speed on the Barber track.

You need to go to Bondurant and get a ride in the 15 passenger Van . It's rediculous.

If I didn't give him something to correct me about, he would never talk to me at all.

Except maybe to drive my car!

I corrected the date on the YouTube title but I'm not going to bother correcting it in the video. Thanks for the heads up.
