Thanks to Jedi1 for letting me come over for a quick intro to sim racing this evening. Holy moly! I almost fell out when I saw his set-up. He was really great about showing me the basics & just setting me loose at Barber in a 911 GT3. I don't think he quite believed me when I told him "YOU KNOW I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO DRIVE YET, RIGHT?"

I think he believes me now That said, I was better at the end of 35 laps than I was when I started, and he pulled up the stats to show me my lap times so I could see what I'd done time-wise. He was very patient with me, and I was sooooo rude when he wanted to take the wheel to show me a few things and I was all, "ONE MORE LAP...ONE MORE LAP"

    Three hours later....

    Hahahah just kidding!

Mostly. For real, I did not let go of that wheel until the car ran out of gas.

Anyway thanks, Sean. It was a blast, and I can see how it can really help me get my head around the whole experience.

Thanks to everybody who's helped me with info & suggestions. With your help, I will not be sim dum for much longer

The whole simlation thing becomes very real with a bit of seat time. At the end of the 35 laps it didn't take a rocket scientist to see exactly how the lap times were falling. I was watching the confidence in the car rise with time spent behind the wheel and the last 10 or so laps you were starting to get on the throttle a little earlier and in the right places. I'm glad yo liked it. Hope you can make it by for Daytona!

Don't worry ... you'll get it with more seat time, just like real racing. If it makes you feel better, Sean and I were running a practice race for the LOTA series last night on Live for Speed, and I rolled 3 times in total between 2 instances, had 2 off-road excursions and spun 3 times after dropping a wheel off (in my defense, these were after trashing my suspension in the off road stints). All this in an hour race ... and, with all that, I ended up 7th overall.

I believe 12 that started. A couple timed out and one or 2 joined afterward I think.
