I know its a little late to comment, but I once took a job opportunity out of town and it came back to bite me. I was in college at the time, and the guy who hired me gave me all kinds of promises. After a year I was thrown out like a used condom and I went from job to job and struggled to make ends meet.

Sounds like you've made the right decision.

I used to live in Idaho and my sister lived in Washington, so I'm familiar with the NW area.
For those who haven't been, Oregon is beautiful wilderness and the people are fantastic. If you're a skateboarder like myself, there's several public skateboard parks that are world class facilities. Don't believe the hype about it rains all the time. The normal annual rainfall in Alabama is greater. Summer feels like Alabama in Spring and Winter brings opportunity for Snowboarding and skiing. You now have AWD...why not go?
