Corner weight service, where to go?

Yeah, I was reading up on it ... corner weighting seems to focus more on the balance between the opposing corners. I guess it has to do with the slight asymmetric nature of autos. Do you corner balance with the drive in like an alignment?Matt W.

It's more accurate to do so with the driver in place.Originally posted by TouringBubble View PostYeah, I was reading up on it ... corner weighting seems to focus more on the balance between the opposing corners. You can also adjust with the sway-bars if you have adjustable endlinks. If you have coilovers, or height adjustable suspension, you can set your heights for your springs and damper length (as you had previously described/Casey described) and then you can shift weight side to side with load from the swaybars.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

OK, y'all, to do this right, you removed one link from each sway bar end (front and rear) and adjust the C R O S S W E I G H T as close to "0" lbs as you can. Then you connect the sway bar links and check the cross. You should have the driver in the car with about 1/2 the gas that you would normally start with.
Note...alignment should also be done with the driver in the car and the same amount of gas.

Correct. And make sure to settle the suspension after each adjustment.Originally posted by Chuck Baader View PostOK, y'all, to do this right, you removed one link from each sway bar end (front and rear) and adjust the C R O S S W E I G H T as close to "0" lbs as you can. Charles, it definitely makes a difference unless you weigh less that 25#!!! When the car is on the scales, you can turn your head and change the weights!!
Note on letting the car settle...I usually wait 30 minutes after each adjustment to the coil-overs. Better is letting the car sit over night and doing the final weight/sway bar attachments.
If you want reliable, repeatable cross-weights you want the car exactly as raced each time it goes on the scales....but what do I know!

I normally roll the car back n forth a few times after each adjustments to the coilovers and alignments before I double check it again after. anywho. I hope this makes a good bit of differance i on the car. CChaisit T aka C the gangster

Different suspension types are affected differently with the driver in the car. In the Evo I get about 0.2* change in camber, which obviously shifts the toe as well.Matt W.

welp, as it turns out. my car was prtty close to having 50% crossweight as soon as I roll it on to the scales ( pad self in back for doing a good job on the car) and only require that I raise LR by 2 1/2 turn to get 50% Cross weight. Ill be double checking everything tonight as far as alignment goes. The tires should arrive today. Lets get 2013 going! CChaisit T aka C the gangster

Proper car setup:
Step 1. FIX bump steer
Step 2. Set ride height
Step 3. Record total weight
Step 4. Set corner weights
Step 5. Reconnect sway bars
Not only do you need scales, you need roll off scale slip plates so the suspension can settle without side binding. On top of that, every time you lift the car to make an adjustment, you must let the shocks settle to ride height...that can take 20-30 minutes for race shocks. This is not a process you want to hurry or you end up with a car that does not handle the same in left and right hand turns.

JOhn you have PM
Chuck, we let the spring settled before we took the original total weight with/ without driver and sway was disconected. the ride height/ pre-lim alignment was set a few days prior to this. And will be double check again tonight when I get home, I dont think that 2 2/12 turn raising up in LF would make any dramatic changes as far as alignment is concern but if it did it will be bring back to where I want it to be. Corner weighed my car today as well. Just got under there. Lifted it up on my feet at the rear tires, hands with the front. You really just gotta feel this one, but felt the weight was a little heavier right hand and left foot, so I lowered the right rear(left foot) 2.846 turns and she's a perfect 50%.
lol Glad you got it done. You need all the help you can get
